BMX Track:

Are you into BMX biking? We are wanting to put on some competitions now the new BMX track has been built. If you are interested in participating please contact us through the 'Contact Us' page on this website or through Facebook (See link below).

There will also be a series of TRAINING DAYS for both new and experienced riders early in 2012

ADVENTURE PLAY AREA

We know that there is nothing much for young people to do in the park so are planning a youth shelter, a wheels track plus some challenging play equipment.  The problem we have at the moment is funding and support by Sheffield Council.

If you have any ideas and suggestions about this, please contact us. Either through Facebook, Twitter or the 'Contact Us' page!

WHAT WE HAVE ACHIEVED SO FAR:

  • Secured funding for the new natural playground in Chapeltown Park from Playbuilder, Sheffield Council, Community Spaces, Veolia Environmental Trust, Sheffield Homes, Northern Community Assembly,  West Riding Masonic Charities and J. G. Graves

  • Run lots of successful events – see the pictures page.
  • Done lots of litterpicking and tree planting with the help of local school children and volunteers.
  • Opened up the woodland walks with sculptures and an information leaflet;
  • obtained a 20ft container from Northern Community Assemblies so that we can store old tables/brushes and chairs for events;
  • Cleaned out the "Butterfly Glade" by Blackburn Brook and installed a "hopscotch" stepping stone feature; a library "pond dipping" pack for people to borrow complete with fishing nets; steps into the brook; new seating from a large tree trunk, leaflet and an interpretation board.
  • Planted 15 wild fruit trees with Coit School and the Lord Mayor in the "Oxley Orchard" and, in March 2011, another 105 donated by the Woodland Trust - this time planted by Lound Infants children.
  • Got funding and bought our own marquee for the events.
  • Ran a dry stone walling course and repaired some walls.
  • Obtained funding for a Masterplan of the Park which is now complete.
  •  Why not get involved with the Friends Group?   You could –
·        Make tea/coffee at events or help with crafts and organising visitors
.   Help with projects and public consultations.

Big Challenge

Ecclesfield School is taking part in the 'Big Challenge' with the rest of the schools across Sheffield. This is a chance to market your business in the real world and is part of the BTEC Business Studies Course. It is funded through the Sheffield Local Enterprise Growth Initiative.

Tom Bell is leading his team, Dream Team, and is working along side the Friends of Chapeltown & High Green Parks to support with refreshments at events. With the profits they will re-invest in the business and then at the end of the challenge will donate to a charity. Their chosen charity is the Friends group!
